Visit the old gold mining village of Hill End where a tremendous wealth of gold was exposed in the area in October 1872 when the Star of Hope Gold Mining Co uncovered what was, at the time, the world’s largest specimen of reef gold. The “Holtermann Nugget”, as it was called, weighed 286 kg. The amount of gold extracted at Hill End was greater than any other goldfield in New South Wales other than Canbelego.

Explore the charm and beauty of Mudgee, famous for its wine, honey and much, much more. Mudgee, which dates back to 1821, is the second oldest settlement west of the Great Dividing Range and has many fine old stately buildings from last century which have been classified by the National Trust.
